Hey Superfans!

I’m releasing a new single, and to celebrate, I’m throwing a party!

You’ll get to hear the song before it comes out, and see live performances by Sam Landis and Elliot.wavs. Afterwards, we’re gonna jam, as is the tradition at Something Cool. It’s a beautiful space, full of great artists, and one of my favorite places in the city to hang out and play music.

Now for the story behind the song:

I met Arieh Berl (Pink Skies), at the Cosmic Jelly songwriting camp in Imogen Heap’s house last summer.

A few weeks after camp, I got a message from Arieh, "Super last minute, but we are looking for a topline over this beat for a brief. It's due EOD." It was 3pm. I dropped everything and started writing.

The brief describes a scene set in Athens. A young Canadian journalist falls in love with an Afghan refugee. The two find themselves in a strip club, listening to this song as the women dance.

I wanted to capture the breathless excitement of falling for someone in a beautiful faraway place. Knowing that you don’t have much time, savoring every moment.

I thought about the beginning of my relationship with Liza, when I moved to the Bay Area and she came to visit. The intensity, the uncertainty, and everything feeling brand new.

“Wrong Ones” will be released on Cosmic Jelly on July 15th, 2025.
